Rust is heavily single-threaded for its main game loop. The i9-12900K's P-cores boost to 5.2GHz — significantly faster than the Xeons most hosts use, which means smoother gameplay under load.
NVMe — Not SAN
Most large hosts use shared SAN storage that 50 servers hammer simultaneously. Your world saves and chunk loading go to locally attached NVMe. The difference during wipe day is night and day.

Getting Started

What exactly is "managed" hosting?
Managed means we handle everything — initial setup, plugin installation and configuration, wipe scheduling, server monitoring, crash recovery and ongoing maintenance. You get a fully operational Rust server without touching the command line. Just log in, play and run your community.
How quickly will my server be ready?
Your server is online and connectable within 15 minutes of payment. Initial configuration is complete within 24 hours for most setups. More involved work — custom procgen maps, community website builds, or full branding setups — can take up to 72 hours.
Do I need Linux or server experience?
No. Everything is managed for you through a simple web dashboard — point-and-click. You'll never need to touch a command line, edit a config file, or know what SSH is.
Can I move my existing Rust server to Rustinew?
Yes. Send us your current save file and any plugin configs you want to keep, and we'll restore them onto your Rustinew hardware. Migration is typically done with minimal downtime — we set up the new server alongside your existing one and switch DNS when you're ready.
Do you help with setup?
Yes — every customer gets hands-on setup help included. We configure your server, generate your first map, add our essential plugins, write your welcome message, and walk you through anything you're not sure about. You're not handed a server and left to figure it out.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes — add-ons can be added or removed at any time from your dashboard, with prorated billing. Start lean and bolt on extras (Wipe Handler, Discord Bot, 4-Hourly Backups, Plugin Management, Custom Domain, etc.) whenever you need them.
I'm in North America — can I use this?
Our dedicated hardware is EU-based (Falkenstein, Germany), so dedicated hosting is EU-only for now. However, Managed+ is available anywhere in the world — you bring your own server hardware in NA and we manage everything else. Learn about Managed+.
What is Managed+ and how is it different?
Managed+ is for server owners who already have their own hosting hardware or VPS — whether that's a rented dedicated box, a cloud instance, or anything else worldwide. We take over the operational side completely: plugins, wipe schedules, Discord bot, backups, events and crash recovery. You keep ownership of the hardware; we handle everything else.

Performance & Infrastructure

Are resources actually dedicated?
Yes. 15 GB of RAM is reserved exclusively for your server — not pooled, not burstable, not shared. CPU cores are shared across our (capped) customer pool but each server gets priority allocation, and because we cap at 6 customers per machine, contention is genuinely incredibly rare even at full capacity.
How many servers run on each machine?
Maximum of 6. When we're full, we stop selling — we don't keep stuffing customers on to squeeze margins. This is the single most important number for performance: it's the difference between every customer having real hardware and everyone fighting for scraps.
Where are your servers located?
EU — Germany. Low latency to all of Europe and most of the UK. Single physical machine, owned and operated by us.
Will mods/plugins affect performance?
The 15 GB RAM and high-clock CPU we allocate is enough headroom for 99% of server setups, including 150-slot servers running 20–30 plugins. A handful of extremely heavy plugin combinations may need tuning; if your setup pushes the envelope, we'll tell you upfront and help optimise.
Do you oversell hardware?
Never. The 15 GB allocated to your server is real RAM, reserved on the physical machine, not a "burstable up to" figure. The 6-customer cap is hard — when full, we stop selling. This is the entire reason Rustinew exists.

Plugins & Modding

Is uMod / Oxide included?
Yes, on every plan. Oxide is pre-installed and kept up to date.
Can you install plugins for me?
Yes, with a Plugin Management add-on. Three tiers based on how many you need: Starter (€5/mo, up to 10 plugins), Standard (€10/mo, up to 20), Full (€25/mo, unlimited). Without an add-on you can still upload plugins yourself via the dashboard, but install and configuration is part of the Plugin Management tiers.
What's included in Plugin Management?
Installation, initial configuration tuned to your server's playstyle, ongoing config tweaks on request, updates when plugin authors release new versions, conflict diagnosis when plugins fight each other, and direct outreach to plugin developers when bugs surface. You tell us what you want the plugin to do; we make it happen.
Can I use paid plugins?
Yes. Buy the licence in your own name from uMod, Codefling or any vendor, then upload the plugin file plus proof of purchase to your dashboard. We install and configure it. The licence stays with you — if you ever leave Rustinew, the plugin follows you.
What happens when Facepunch updates break plugins?
We test all updates on a staging server before pushing them to your live server, which catches most breakage before it reaches you. When a plugin does break post-update, we work to get it patched as fast as possible — applying community fixes, writing our own patches, or finding alternative plugins when the original author is slow to respond. You'll be kept informed throughout.

Wipes & Backups

Can you handle wipes automatically?
The mandatory monthly forced wipe is handled for every customer, no add-on needed. For anything beyond that — custom cadences (weekly, bi-weekly), BP wipe control, countdown timers, or Discord wipe announcements — the Wipe Handler add-on (€5/mo) covers it all hands-off.
Do you announce wipes in Discord?
Yes, with the Wipe Handler add-on. Wipe-day announcements post automatically to the Discord channel created by the Rustinew bot during your initial setup.
How often are backups taken?
Daily for standard plans. The 4-Hourly Backups add-on (€5/mo) gives you a backup every 4 hours with 42 backups retained (roughly 7 days of 4-hourly history). All backups are also pushed off-site for disaster recovery.
Can I restore an older backup?
Yes. Your most recent backups are immediately available — message us with the timestamp you want and we'll restore it onto your server (typically 5–15 minutes depending on save size).
Can I download my world save?
Yes, any time you want. Your data is yours — request a download via your dashboard or in support and we'll provide a one-time download link within 24 hours (usually much faster). No questions asked, no extra fees.

Support

What are your support hours?
06:00–01:00 Lisbon time, every day — 7 days a week, 19 hours of coverage. Outside those hours, messages queue and are replied to first thing the next morning.
What does Priority Support include?
The Priority Support SLA add-on (€20/mo) gets you direct WhatsApp and Telegram access to Dave for urgent issues, a 1-hour response target during support hours, fast-tracked ticket queue (your requests jump in front of standard tickets), and priority for config changes.
Do you offer 24/7 support?
No — Dave is a human and needs to sleep. That's the trade-off for a one-person operation: 19 hours every day instead of round-the-clock, but the person answering you actually knows your server.
How do I contact support?
Email (support@rustinew.com), Discord (#support channel in the Rustinew Discord), or the Support tab in your dashboard which opens a tracked ticket. Priority Support customers additionally get WhatsApp and Telegram for urgent issues.
Do you help with plugin conflicts?
Yes — for customers with any Plugin Management add-on (Starter, Standard or Full). We diagnose the conflict, fix the configs, and where needed contact the plugin authors to get the underlying issue resolved.
What happens if Dave gets sick or takes vacation?
In the rare situation Dave is unable to provide support, a contracted emergency consultant takes over. For planned vacation time you'll be informed in advance with exact dates; for sickness, as soon as possible. Your server keeps running normally throughout — critical issues are always dealt with.

Billing & Policies

How does billing work?
All plans are billed in Euros (EUR) via Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can manage your subscription, view invoices and cancel at any time from the Members Area billing portal.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your dashboard at any time — your service continues until the end of your current billing cycle, then suspends automatically. No cancellation fees, no questions asked. After suspension your data is held for 14 days in case you change your mind, then permanently deleted.
Do you offer refunds?
Under EU consumer law you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal on distance contracts. Because we provision your server immediately upon payment (rather than queuing it for later), we ask you to expressly waive that right at checkout — this is standard practice across the hosting industry for any service that starts straight away.

Once the checkout waiver is ticked and your server is live, refunds are not offered (no prorated refunds for unused time). One-time setup services — Custom Website Build, Marketing Bundle, Full Discord Server Build, VIP System Setup — are non-refundable once work has commenced.

If something is genuinely wrong with the service we provide, please talk to us first — we'd much rather fix the problem than have an unhappy customer.

If for any reason we fail to provide your service immediately, your rights under EU law remain protected until the service is provisioned.
What happens if my payment fails?
Stripe automatically retries failed payments over the following days. You'll get an email after each failed attempt with a link to update your card via Stripe's billing portal. If retries fail, your server is suspended (not deleted) — your data is preserved while you sort the payment. Update your card and we reactivate immediately.
Are there setup fees?
No setup fees on the standard hosting plans. Pay your first billing cycle and your server is live with full setup included. Optional one-time services have their own fees if you want them — Custom Website Build (€100), Full Discord Server Build (€25), VIP System Setup (€25), Marketing Bundle (€35) — but they're entirely optional.
Can I change billing plans later?
Yes. Switch between Monthly, Quarterly and Semi-Annual any time from your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing; downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.

About Dave

The Person Behind the Hardware

I've been playing Rust since day one — and yes, I've got the frog boots to prove it. Back when wipes meant something different and the legacy maps still ran. I've sunk thousands of hours into it as a player and just as many as a host, running both PvP and PvE communities over the years.

But Rust isn't the only thing I host. I've run Minecraft, ARK, Conan Exiles, Valheim and a few others I've probably forgotten. Different communities, different rulesets, same core problem to solve: keep the server up, keep the plugins working, and keep the fun going for the players.

I'm a gaming enthusiast at heart who has been playing video games his entire life and hosting games since my teens, from early 2000’s browser based games like QSE, to the AAA games we all enjoy today. I want to see other people get the full experience from the games they love — not log in to find their server lagged and their plugins broken before wasting their evening server hopping — yet again. That's the whole reason Rustinew exists.

When I'm not running servers, I'm off-grid homesteading in the hills of Portugal — growing food, fixing things, living slow. Counterintuitive maybe, but it's exactly how I can give your server the attention it deserves: no commute, no office distractions, no boss pushing me to take on more clients than I should.
